Responding with the Maffin SWARM strategy

March 27, 2007 by Gary Schlee

classactcementTod Maffin, CBC’s resident (or is that contractural?) blogger, told a packed room of IABC Toronto practitioners they need to be prepared for the webswarm when it hits. It was a lively, humourous presentation that covered lots of social media territory.

Given his secondary message about overcoming our need to multitask, I was pleased when I saw blogger Joe Thornley walk into the room. I just knew he would cover the presentation, reducing my sense of need to blog about Tod’s main points.

Sure enough, Joe’s Sting of the Webswarm posting wonderfully captures Tod’s message that communicators need to get into the blogging space (or find someone in the organization to do it) and be prepared to engage when necessary with a human, responsive face. Thanks for the notes, Joe!

UPDATE: IABC member Eileen Chadnick also takes a look at Tod’s presentation on her TGIM Work-Life blog.
